Wrangell-St. Elias Tours provides direct shuttle service between
Anchorage and McCarthy, private transfers, and daily tours to McCarthy
and Kennicott from Chitina.

Private Transfers

Private transfers for individuals and groups may be available when your travel
dates or locations do not fit into our scheduled shuttles. Private transfer rates
include your own vehicle and driver. Custom tours and transportation requests
are welcome. A non-refundable $200 deposit is required to guarantee a
date, and we ask that your reservation is paid in full 30 days prior to your
reserved pick up date. Not all dates are available. Please reserve early to
assure availability.

Daily Tours - Chitina to McCarthy & Kennicott
|
8.5 Hour Tour: $89 per person Choose a morning or afternoon departure
Departs from the Chitina Hotel at 7:30 am (12:00 pm).
Travel the McCarthy Road with a knowledgable driver/guide and enjoy many
stops along the way for sightseeing, picture taking and stretching the legs.
Arrives at Root Glacier Base Camp at 10:00 am (2:30 pm).
Cross the Kennicott River on foot and take a tour van into McCarthy and Kennicott.
Stop at the McCarthy-Kennicott Historical Museum, and enjoy some free
time to shop, relax and explore on your own.
Return trip departs from Root Glacier Base Camp at 2:00 pm (6:00 pm).
Arrives back in Chitina at 4:00 pm (8:00 pm).
Meals are not included in the tour cost. Many additional tour options are available.
You can add a flightseeing trip, guided walk, or glacier hike to your visit.
If you are going to go hiking or explore the glacier, consider our full 12.5 hour
tour, which gives you the maximum time to enjoy your one-day visit to this
spectacular area!
12.5 Hour Tour: $119 per person
Departs from the Chitina Hotel at 7:30 am (Returns at 8:00 pm).
Travel the McCarthy Road with a knowledgable driver/guide and enjoy many
stops for sightseeing, picture taking and stretching the legs.
Arrives at Root Glacier Base Camp at 10:00 am.
Cross the Kennicott River on foot and take a tour van into McCarthy and Kennicott.
Stop at the McCarthy-Kennicott Historical Museum, and enjoy some free
time to sightsee and hike on your own or add another tour option to your visit.
You may want to take a historic mill tour or do a glacier hike or ice climbing with a
local guide service.
Return trip departs from Root Glacier Base Camp at 6:00 pm.
Arrives back at the Chitina Hotel at 8:00 pm.
